We celebrate Gandhi Jayanti as a big national holiday all over India. The full name of Mahatma Gandhi is Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi and he is also famous as Bapu and Father of the Nation.
October 2 is also celebrated internationally as International Day of Non-Violence as he was a lifelong preacher of non-violence. On 15 June 2007, 2 October has been declared by the United Nations General Assembly as the International Day of Nonviolence. We will always remember Bapu as a symbol of peace and truth.
