Maria Tanase was born on September 25, 1913 in the Corimidarilor slum in Bucharest (today the Children’s Palace area – Tineretului Park). He had a sister and a brother. Whose names are called Aurica (b. 1910) and François (called Franz, b. 1911). Maria Tonce was hired in May 1934, at the “Crăbuș” theater. On June 2, she made her debut in the magazine Coribus-Express under the pseudonym Marie Atanasiou, chosen by Konstantin Tonse. In the same year they printed Mansarda (a novel by Nelo Manzatti) on the record label “Lifa Records”, the artist’s first print.
