Rawat was born on 20 December 1960 in Khairsain village of Kotdwar tehsil of Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand. He was the ninth and youngest child in the family. He received his Master’s degree in Journalism from Birla Campus, Srinagar, affiliated to Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University.
Rawat organized ‘Krishak Mahotsav’ twice a year at each Nyaya Panchayat level to help the farmers of Uttarakhand in which officers of 18 departments were present to solve the problems of the farmers.
The party announced him as one of the members of Namami Gange, the national mission to clean the holy river Ganga in 2014.
In 2002, he became MLA from Doiwala constituency. He was re-elected as MLA from Doiwala constituency in the year 2007. Trivendra was appointed as the National Secretary of BJP in March 2013. Was appointed by the Bharatiya Janata Party with Amit Shah as the co-in-charge of Uttar Pradesh.
Appointed as Member of New Voters’ Campaign Committee for 2014 Lok Sabha Elections along with Amit Shah, Navjot Singh Sidhu and Poonam Mahajan. He was appointed in-charge of BJP, Jharkhand in 2014.
In March 2017, he became the 8th Chief Minister of Uttarakhand after the BJP received a remarkable mandate. Out of 57 seats out of 70 in the state assembly elections. On 9 March 2021, he resigned from the post of Chief Minister of Uttarakhand.
